Dark Moss
Dark Moss is a landscape architecture firm in Tampa FL. They are great at dealing with the bureaucratic system for their clients in order to achieve various permits for their projects. They are also very passionate about trees, and how to design outdoor spaces that not only makes their clients happy but that also focus on conservation and sustainability. They wanted to rebrand themselves in a way that expressed the duality of the nature, while keeping an overall business-casual feel.
Brand designer. I lead client presentations, and worked closely with them to understand their industry and business needs.
Dark Moss wanted to rebrand themselves in a way that expressed the duality of the nature, while keeping an overall business-casual feel. They wanted to stay true to their friendly & professional brand voice while finding a middle ground that would still resonated in the larger landscape architecture business spectrum.
I worked closely with the client to understand their business and personality. I lead kickoff discussions, created and present a moodboard which went over various avenues of design exploration. After the client settled on exploring the presented “tree” and “monogram” concepts. I worked from sketches to feel out various concepts that involved a tree. After developing the concept in iterations with the client I landed on using the rings found inside a tree trunk and combining that with an emblem like feel to create a natural but professional looking logomark. I provided client-ready mockups and lead client presentation, annotating revisions and implementing them into the next round. I then expanded the visual language, provided a style guide, and implemented the brand throughout various print projects.
The client was thrilled with their new branding, and felt that it truly represented their more casual personality while still appealing to their target audience.
Stationary & Print
I was able to work with Dark Moss in order to create a business card. I also created an InDesign template with custom character styles, paragraph styles, table styles and much more. This template serves them as a guide for their contract forms and documentation.
